Jupiter Elementary School clerk awarded Employee of the Year

Nita Miller, Attendance Clerk at Jupiter Elementary School has been named Brevard Public School’s  Employee of the Year for 2006.  Awarded by Superintendent Dr. Richard A. DiPatri at a ceremony held at the Cocoa Beach Hilton in December, Miller was “overwhelmed” by the news, yet thrilled to join the official ranks of Brevard’s finest.

Finalists were nominated by their school or department. A selection committee reviewed the written nominations and chose those they believed contributed most significantly to improvements at their school sites or within the district.

Miller has worked for the district for 15 years, 10 of which have been with Jupiter Elementary School. In addition to her role as attendance clerk, Miller is a campus interpreter for the hearing impaired. Her love of computers led her to become the Tech Assistant for the computer lab where she gained experience setting up computer classrooms, tutored students, and assisted with wiring the school building’s computers. Miller also served as a network coordinator responsible for the entire computer and audio-visual needs of the school and inventory. She has built a positive rapport with students and their families by tutoring and mentoring the children in reading. “Throughout her tenure at Jupiter Mrs. Miller’s faithful service has endeared her to the faculty staff and students. She is indeed an asset to the Jupiter community and embodies our motto: ‘Soaring Together to Higher Heights in Student Achievement,’” says Cynthia Harris, Principal of Jupiter Elementary School.

Nita is a volunteer who has worked behind the scenes at Florida State FPS Competition for the last 10 years.  She has helped in any capacity asked of her and is a vital part of the evaluation’s process during State competition.  We congratulate her on this well deserved honor and hope that she stays with us at State for many more years to come.
