The big news this year includes Grand Champion Award in CmPS and multiple others!  Great job!!

Community Problem Solving (CmPS):

Grand Champion Award in Senior Division went to Flagler Palm Coast High School’s “F.AM.E.” Flagler Advancement of Media Education Project

Team members:  Eric Adams, Shea Birney, Derek Cabrera, Amanda Dascoulias, Lauren Hadeed, Megan Jensen, Ian Kochevar, Krystin Plastine, Matthew Poliner, Justin Register, Jonathan Robinson, Jessica Smith, Jonathan Tanenbhaum, Tom Wagner, Morgan Weinberg.  Coach:  Diane Tomko.

Due to lack of reading improvement in the lowest quartile students, our school received a “D” rating.  Something had to be done!  Our team initiated Project FAME (Flagler Advancement of Media Education) to increase the utilization of our Media Center by creating a “Barnes and Noble” atmosphere.  We purchased 2000 new books, and worked with architects and a Disney Imagineer to create new displays, seating, and a cyber cafe.  With over $80000 donated and 2,500 hours of community service, we managed to triple the activity at the circulation desk and impact 100% of the students attending our high school.
